OLED tech isn't exactly new for Hisense, as the display manufacturer does have several OLED TVs under its guise, they just aren't available for purchase in the US — yet, that is. Preorders for European customers kicks off on September 2, not mere days ahead of its official reveal at IFA 2024 in Berlin.

One of the biggest problems with OLED screens is issues with color accuracy. Colors may shift over time, which can dramatically change how they appear on the screen. OLED screens also are known for color banding, which reduces image quality and shows obvious signs of the screen's color gradient.

With the European launch of the Hisense A85N in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, Hisense is showing that it hasn't ignored the benefits of OLED either. The TV notably features the same OLED panel that's found on LG Electronics's new C4 OLED TV, and can hit a peak brightness of around 1,000 nits, the company says.

The only problem to consider with OLED picture quality is image retention or burn-in. That's when the TV has an afterimage on it that lingers or is permanent because its pixels are in constant use.
