Our History The Paris-Bourbon County YMCA has served our community since 1913. The Y is in the business of nurturing the potential of children and teens (Youth Development), improving health and well-being (Healthy Living) and motivating people to support their neighbors and the larger community (Social Responsibility).

- Childcare. We have two childcare facilities, one in Bourbon County and one in Harrison County. We serve children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Our childcare capacity between both places is approximately 250 children.
- Newly renovated 3rd floor for teens and youth programming outreach, community meeting space, extension programming.
- Nicholas County Satellite branch: small rural community main focus is having a place that has fitness equipment.

Financial Snapshot The YMCA of Paris Bourbon County is fiscally healthy. Over the last 3 years the Y has shown profits for 2021 & 2023 but a loss for2022 attributed to the spending of grant funds received in prior years, as well as an increase in childcare wages required to serve the increased demand as the community reopened post covid, as well as provide competitive wages in the post-covid economy. Rates were raised in 2023 across the board to account for these wage increases and a general increase in operating costs due to inflation.

Population & Demographics Paris is located in Bourbon County, Kentucky, county Population 20134 located 13 miles from Lexington, Kentucky. We also service Harrison County population 19415 and Nicholas County population 7269.
Area Amenities And Community BenefitsThe quality of life of living in Paris-Bourbon County is top notch stress free rural living, being conveniently located near Lexington, one can get all the bigger city activities and shopping within a short drive away. Local city and county attractions include Claiborne Farm, Wendt’s Wildlife, The Bourbon Drive-In, Stepping Stone Farm, just to name a few. The Downtown District has numerous eateries within walking distance including Lil’s, Happy People, Meals Made Easy, Trackside and Paradise Café.
Our school systems include a city and a county school system as well as a Catholic elementary school along with other Christian educational facilities.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 annually Benefits: The Paris-Bourbon County YMCA has a defined contribution plan with 12% total contribution; 11% total salary contributed by the association and 1% by the employee (when eligibility requirements are met).
Residency Expectation: The CEO is expected to be highly engaged and visible in our community. Willingness to live within our community but not to exceed an hours drive of Paris.

QualificationsCriteria for Candidates:
- Accredited 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Must be able to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Have the ability to develop innovative programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
- Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
- Fiscally sound business management approach.
- A proven record of accomplishment of progressive budgetary leadership and advanced fiscal management practices.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to achieve within 3 years.
Essential FunctionsPosition Description The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Paris-Bourbon County YMCA is hired by and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The next leader must be an engaging leader who aligns resources and efforts that address the needs of the community. The CEO must have strong fiscal management experience, community outreach, strategic planning, and leadership skills. The skills to take initiative, motivate, delegate and lead others successfully are also essential components.
Organization goals will be met by ensuring that ambitious funding, advocacy, membership development, community outreach and partnerships, as well as operational and financial plans, are implemented to create the highest impact program outcomes. By convening important community leaders, partners, funders, public, faith based, governmental and other nonprofits, the CEO will extend the organization’s reach and continually highlight the leadership role of the Y. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished visionary with a distinguished track record in fund development, team leadership and operational excellence to play a critical role in community impact and become the charity of choice.
Key Performance ObjectivesDevelop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff, to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses the needs of the communities served by the Y and includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals. Key competencies: Change Leadership, Communication & Influence, Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Program/Project Management Improve Operating Performance: Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for identifying and achieving key goals and objectives towards operating with safe, relevant, and sustainable practices. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the Y’s operations and activities. Key competencies: Developing Self & Others, Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Innovation Position the Y as a Vital Partner for Community Change: Serve as an ambassador for the mission, purpose, and vision for the YMCA within the community. Possess the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, while always upholding the highest standards and values of the Y. Ensure your Y is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other. Key competencies: Communication & Influence, Engaging Community, Collaboration Build and Lead Staff: Ensure a talent development system is in place and executed in affirming, culturally competent and effectively. Hire, motivate, nurture, retain, and hold staff accountable for key objectives. Encourage the team by creating a spirit of camaraderie, inclusion, and sense of mission and purpose. Create a learning organization to help staff achieve their highest potential. Key competencies: Developing Self & Others, Inclusion, Emotional Maturity, Change Leadership Fiscal Management: Use high-level financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth, and stability, while consistently leading an organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies. Key competencies: Fiscal Management, Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Developing Self & Others, Philanthropy Steward Fundraising Efforts: Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan that will establish the YMCA as a leading nonprofit organization within the community through the engagement of members, volunteers, staff, and donors. Identify the need for successful capital fundraising, while taking the organization to a new level of effectiveness and impact in annual giving and endowment.
