Where to Find the Kraken's Body in Sea of Thieves (2024)

Sea of Thieves has dozens of enemies and world events you can stumble upon during your adventures. While most threats or world events allow you to choose if you want to participate in their fight or ignore them like the Fort of Fortune, but the Kraken in Sea of Thieves isn’t as merciful.

Through Rare’s recent lore-driven events, we have gotten to see more into the story of Megalodon’s presence in the Sea of Thieves, but more mystery now surrounds the Krakens. If you want to learn how to fight these monstrous creatures or looking to know what lies beneath the waves of the usual Kraken fight, we got you covered.

Finding the Kraken Body in Sea of Thieves

In the third season of Sea of Thieves, a collaboration with Disney was introduced, merging the Pirates of the Caribbean world with the Sea of Thieves. During this merging of franchises, a new Tall Tale was introduced for all pirates to enjoy, along with new sea creatures to fight and treasures to find.

The location of the Kraken’s body is in the second chapter of the Pirates Life Tall Tail series, so if you want to remain spoiler free, we are warning you to play the first part of the Tall Tale before following our guide.

Chapter Two: The Sunken Pearl

After you have completed the first part of the Tall Tail, you must embark on the second chapter, called The Sunken Pearl. Head to the Castaway’s Camp to initiate the adventure by selecting the Tale Book named The Sunken Pearl.

We will keep the details of the chapter to a minimum, but this chapter has eight different parts. After the prologue, you must set sail to a beacon usually marked in section C-19 on your map table. Once you arrive, you must follow a trail of debris down below the waves, leading to the Sunken Kingdom.

While fighting through the Sunken Kingdom, you will also find the Black Pearl chained to the bottom of the sea. You must shift debris from the lower decks of the Black Pearl to retrieve the Black Pearl Key to receive Jack’s Compass.

The Siren’s Spire

Following Jack’s Compass will lead you through a cave and up through the Siren Spire. While inside the Siren Spire, you must battle through hordes of Ocean Crawlers and complete several Siren Statue puzzles to ascend the tower.

Finally, reaching the top of the Siren Spire, you can take a Trident of the Dark Tides from a windowed room. While inside this room, you can see the Kraken’s entire body swimming outside the tower in Sea of Thieves. This isn’t the first or the last time you can see the Kraken body in Sea of Theives in full view during this Tall Tail.

Later in the adventure, you will enter the Siren Citadel by completing the Siren Statue puzzle, similar to the previous one in the Tale. After the doors open, you can swim inside, where two solid water doors lock the passage forward. It’s worth noting that there is an optional Kraken sighting in this section of the Tall Tail.

There is an alternate path at the start of the Siren Citadel to the upper left of the room. Swim up and look through one of the water doors and the Kraken slams its tentacle against it. This is the final sighting until the climactic fight. If you want to avoid spoilers, we recommend finishing the adventure.

In one of the Tall Tail’s final acts, the Silver Blade Revenge, the Siren Queen will set the Kraken on the crew, forcing you to defeat it.

Kraken Fight

The Siren Queen commands the Kraken to fight you as you ascend the tower using a broken ship tied up to chains. After fighting through a small wave of Ocean Crawlers, the final fight begins. Sadly, while there was a lot of build-up to this last climactic fight, being able to the Kraken’s entire body could have been a terrifying moment.

The Kraken forces its body into this small chamber, swarming you with a few tentacles and fully revealing its head to your ship’s cannons. The fight revolves around dodging its slam attacks and avoiding coating yourself in its ink attack.

This fight fails to live up to its complete hype built through the Tall Tail because the Kraken doesn’t do much to combat you during their battle. Besides taking a few swipes at you and spraying you with ink, there isn’t a lot of danger or threat during this fight. Unloading cannonballs and bullets into its gigantic head is how you eventually win the fight.

Sometimes shooting cannons at the Kraken’s body doesn’t give any solid feedback to you dealing any damage. Players also have reported that the cannonballs didn’t give hitmarkers, but bullets from your pirate’s guns still registered hitmarkers.

After landing consecutive hits to the Kraken’s body, it slinks back into the deep water, ending the fight. The water outside the tower quickly clears up as the ink vanishes, along with the Kraken, and the Tall Tale reaches its end.

Final Thoughts on Finding the Kraken Body in Sea of Thieves

While the Kraken’s design was great and lived up to the beast’s mysterious nature, it’s disappointing that the fight didn’t live up to the hype it teased through the Tale. The waters are stained with ink when players encounter the Kraken at sea, and only its tentacles are raised above the water. What made the Kraken so creepy is the player never got to catch a glimpse of the entire Kraken body in Sea of Thieves.

The only way a causal player would see the Kraken body in Sea of Thieves outside this Tall Tale would be to die to its grab attack. We hope Rare will give players a better way to see the entire model, or at least the remains of a Kraken, in a future update or through one of their limited-time lore adventures.

We still recommend playing through every chapter of A Pirate’s Life since it’s a great story through and through, even if it has some dry parts or limitations to its set pieces. For another great guide, check out our guide on how to farm Crooks Hollow in Sea of Thieves.

As always, happy sailing.
