The 24 best spa hotels in Leeds (2024)

Oulton Hall is a four-star hotel in Yorkshire, UK with traditional styled rooms and modern facilities for business and leisure. The hotel is situated south of the city centre in Oulton village, close to the M1/M62 and A1.

Booked an overnight spa break deal for my wife's birthday. Just about to check out and its been brilliant. They upgraded us to a superior room with a free mini-bar, and in the room had a nice touch of a birthday greeting and a bar of chocolate.Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic; perfect portion sizes and delicious food. The spa treatments for us both were great as well.Bed was wonderfully comfortable and had a great night's sleep. The duvet was so warm.Topped off this morning by a great breakfast and excellent service. For everything included it's been good value.

We had a nice spa break in the hotel, which included a massage treatment.Everything was good, the room was nice, clean and comfortable, the dinner was very tasty, the hotel lounge looked great and was comfortable, the spa and the pool were good, the massage was superb. The breakfast was a bit of a chaos and busy in terms of queuing to a buffet for a while to get some food. Perhaps we have picked the wrong time to have it.

We came for an afternoon tea for two. The grounds and building itself were beautiful with spring flowers in bloom. The tea was a lovely experience overall, with a good selection of cakes and savouries, served with a choice of loose leaf tea and coffee. The scones were served perfectly warmed and the sweets that accompanied were a great, especially the tropical curd dessert. Robbie looked after us for the afternoon and he couldn’t have been better, we were greeted with a warm smile and made us feel as ease. A great afternoon and we will definitely return to stay for a night and use the other facilities.

Food excellent, especially attentive to allergies etc.Chef produced an excellent meal slightly different to the menu. All staff on hand to assist regarding drinks.Breakfast, covered all appetites, cold fruit, yogurts, cereal, fruit juices, pastries of all types. Then there was the hot food. All kept piping hot, on a help yourself display.Staff helpfully delivering tea or coffee.A wonderful way to set you up for the day. Oulton Hall an all round wonderful experience.Thank you very much

Only stayed a night with the Mrs and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The room we stayed in just had the right feel and atmosphere. It was a blend of character and a modern feel to the room. The grounds and hotel itself were very beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

Had a pleasant 2 night stay at Oulton Hall Hotel. Some of the rooms could do with updating and as there was an issue with our first room, we were given a different, much smarter room for our stay. The spa pool is a little small and did get busy even mid week but managed a swim. Didn't have any spa treatments. The quality of the food in the restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed two evening meals. Good selection of breakfast. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and particular thanks go to Megan, Jay, Dylan and Jasmine.

Lovely hotel and facilities. Lovely breakfast in the morning, plenty of options. The continental choices were better than the hot options, the sausages weren't the best. The choice of pastries, breads, cereals and yogurt options were superb. Staff were very friendly from in all areas: check in, spa and restaurant. The pool area is very clean and tidy, the pool itself was a great temperature.Room itself was clean and tidy but felt a little dated compared to other Q Hotels we've stayed in but perfectly comfortable.

Very nice setting for a Hotel, the history of the building is very interesting, the food in the restaurant was very good, but they need to add vegetables as side dishes, the breakfast had a large selection. The Hotel accepts dogs into the rooms and supply a dog bed, dishes and a welcome bag of treats, but be aware that dogs are not allowed into every area of the Hotel. The Spa treatments were very good, a special thankyou to Faye in treatments area. Would definitely recommend this Hotel and Spa

We had an overnight stay, using the pool and facilities. I highly recommend Oulton hall. We had afternoon tea which was just amazing and well worth the money. Then an evening meal which also was superb, the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. We also took a walk around the outskirts of the golf course which was beautiful. The golf course itself is very picturesque.

Just had a super relaxing weekend with my niece at Oulton Hall. Quick journey to Leeds and short taxi ride meant neither of us had to drive. Hotel and grounds beautiful if helped a little by the temperature this weekend. Plenty of lounge areas, eating places and bars, including an excellent and very fairly priced Champagne bar!! We enjoyed dinner at the Cleverly Restaurant, delicious too. The pool and spa facilities were fine but not the best, hence one star off. For value for a weekend getaway, a triumph!

Good afternoon,We booked for a special weekend for my wife's birthday. My mistake by the confusion of the special offer. I thought I had booked for 2 nights. I was offered a extra night for £209.00.The evening meal was really nice and the service was outstanding, Oliver and Liv we felt went the extra mile, thank you.We arrived in the restaurant for breakfast with expectations of similar quality of food. The cold buffet was fantastic, the only downside was there were no plates or cutlery. The hot option was poor, mind you consider we arrived at 7.00am. The beans were skinned over, the bacon was luke warm and the scrambled eggs were awful. I think it was dried eggs. Fried bread nice, and the hash browns okay.I suppose I should have said something there and then, however I was so disappointed. The staff were attentive and helpful.Since coming home I have noticed from your reviews customers were offered additional nights at £135 special deals, a bit more than the £209 we were quoted.Peter Fletcher.

Afternoon Tea was OK but more like a buffet than we're used to, presumably because there were more people attending than usual. We weren't asked if we wanted more tea and had a small teapot between 5 or 6 of us. The staff were very nice though.

Me and the wife had a great time. Spa facilities were clean and looked quite new. The steam room was the best one I have ever been in. The gym was great, really lovely room, and nice big comfy bed. We also enjoyed the restaurant, the food was great and the service was spot on! The breakfast made a premier inn breakfast look weak! Overall great hotel in lovely surroundings, and will defo be returning, speedos in hand.

Just visited initially for a coffee, but then decided to have lunch too. Coffee was enjoyed in the lounge at Oulton Hall. There is plenty of comfortable plush seating available in the lounge area with tall windows, drapes and chandeliers add to the opulence of the room. We also had a view of the golf course. There was outdoor seating on the terrace. Service was very attentive and our waiter was very polite and friendly.. We then walked over to the golf clubhouse to take a look and ended up having a roast pork baguette with roast potatoes (roast beef was also available). Our food came quite quick and was of a decent portion for the price. Oulton Hall itself also caters for Afternoon Teas, hotel stays, pamper sessions/stays, weddings etcI can see why it is a popular venue for weddings. It is lovely. Prices for food and drink are comparable to other 4 star hotels.

Just a family spa day but definitely 5+ stars! We live locally so there was no need to stay but everything else about our visit was just perfect. From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to be well looked after by a warm, friendly, polite yet professional team of expert practitioners. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and for sure I will be returning some time in the not too distant future!

Thank you so much to all the staff at Oulton Hall! As always they go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect for you. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I was recently treated to a weekend spa break from my wonderful daughters.Oulton Hall is the perfect setting for that special celebration. Outstanding service throughout. Amazing treatments at the spa by Medina. See you all again soon.

I can’t express the kindness, professionalism and care the staff have. It’s the most beautiful hotel. What does it really is the staff. Nicholas, Harry u did more than you will ever know to make me feel safe. My girl behind the bar 😊 and her lovely partner made me feel safe when i needed it. I honestly can’t praise you all enough. Ive traveled a lot but this is the best hotel customer satisfaction I’ve ever experienced.

Went to Oulton Hall spa and hotel for a two night stay. The room was accommodating and clean, with nice views. Although the bathroom was a little worn.Oulton Hall is an impressive building, with stunning exteriors and interiors. The staff were helpful and friendly.By far the most disappointing part of the visit was the food. We had dinner and afternoon tea at the Calvarly Grill, the hotel’s expensive restaurant, and were extremely disappointed with the quality and the taste of our meals. The food was cheap, tasteless and sometimes cold. Certainly not up to the standard of the rest of the experience. We complained about the food and received a small discount on the drinks we ordered. Breakfast was better. The spa was also a little disappointing. We were expecting a relaxing and quiet space to enjoy the facilities but there weren’t enough seats to sit down on and it felt very crowded. The hot tub was not hot and the bubbles were sparse and concentrated in one corner. Overall, the spa atmosphere was not relaxing although the treatment (done by a friendly group of ladies) was good.I stress again that the service was lovely as was the architecture of the building and the grounds. However, it seems that Oulton Hall may be cutting back on their food and maintenance expenses.

Really disappointed by our experience at Oulton Hall. Although the building is beautiful and has such potential, the service we received consistently fell short throughout our stay.We booked a "superior room" for a night, which it says on the hotel's website should come with complimentary robes and Elemis toiletries, neither of which were actually in the room. Aside from the free mini bar this felt like a fairly average hotel room and not worth the price difference. The main reason we booked this night away was for the spa so we went to use it after checking in. We asked about our missing robes there. The two girls on the spa reception were extremely rude and dismissive about this, and instead of being apologetic did not seem to believe we should have had robes in our room.We were only given them when we were about to go to speak to the hotel reception about it instead. The spa was cold, extremely(!) busy and there were lots of children running around and jumping in the pool. There seemed to be swimming lessons going on as well and the jacuzzi was lukewarm, and very few seats. None of this is what I'd expect for a spa hotel. We requested a quiet room but it seems this was ignored. On the contrary we were given one adjoining another room with a door between them so we could hear our neighbour's conversations.Breakfast was nice but I was given tea despite asking for coffee.I really regret booking this hotel and certainly won't be staying here again. Coincidentally I'm arranging a spa hen do for my friend at the moment, as well as my own wedding, and won't be considering Oulton Hall for either of these - had we received the level of service I'd expected this may well have been different!

Overall a lovely stay.Room was pleasant and smart, very clean.Restaurant and bar food was 10/10 - great portion sizes and quality.‘Spa’ was very sub-standard. Basic pool, malfunctioning jacuzzi, plastic upright chairs around the pool, nowhere to relax. The sauna and steam room didn’t feel clean or function very well. Changing rooms were dirty and in need of a refurb. Definitely not the luxurious relaxing spa advertised online. The staff were lovely throughout and very helpful. Beautiful location and restaurant lounge areas are really nice.Shame you’re paying for a high end spa hotel but the spa doesn’t deliver.

During my two-night stay, the hotel was great – easy check-in, nice room, delicious food, and the whole place was spotless. And let's not forget the beautiful grounds and mostly friendly staff. But, the spa was a letdown. When I got there, I had to ask where the changing room was and where to wait for my massage. I had to pay to use a locker (seriously?!) and the robe they gave me was very small. The robe didn’t completely cover me (I'm not a big person), so leaving the changing room was very uncomfortable. The waiting area was small, hot and heavily trafficked which made for an awkward experience - especially with an ill fitting robe.Once I finally got to the massage, it was anything but relaxing. I could hear all sorts of noise from outside, and the massage itself was mediocre at best. By the end, I was just glad to get out of there.Overall, the hotel gets five stars from me, but I wouldn't give the spa more than two or three. The spa was definitely not worth the time or money.

Our stay at Oulton Hall Hotel to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday was beyond exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the reception made us feel right at home. Special mention goes to Nick for his thoughtful birthday wishes – a wonderful personal touch that set the tone for our visit.Dinner at the hotel was an absolute delight. Oliver's impeccable service and quality of each dish made it an unforgettable dining experience. The room was lovely and some nice touches were added due to the birthday celebration. The bar ambiance was really enjoyable and the staff were lovely.Overall, our experience at Oulton Hall Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. The attention to detail, impeccable service, and genuine warmth of the staff made this birthday celebration truly memorable. We cannot wait to return for another exceptional stay.

Great place set in a picturesque setting, hotel and accommodation are very luxurious together with very friendly staff. As for the golf the course was still recovering from the last few months of terrible weather but in general was in good condition and was very enjoyable to play especially in the glorious sunshine we got all weekend. The only negative thing I can say about it is, for some mind boggling reason they have dark green flags on the holes which on some holes where virtually invisible from the tee box, this really does need addressing, do the R&A not have some regulation on flag colours, if not they should, lol?

We really enjoyed our first stay here. The pictures really don't do it justice. The staff were all genuinely friendly and helpful. We used the spa, gym, ate and drank in the champagne bar and sat in the main hall. All grand and luxurious. Nick the manager was very friendly and helpful and Chris at the champagne bar too, both went above and beyond. Will definitely be coming back for a nice break.

I Stayed here over the weekend with my mum, sister & niece it was our Christmas get together & we were not disappointed the building is beautiful & really well decorated with comfy chairs & sofas everywhere. The staff are amazing doors opened for us every one spoke & smiled the reception staff were friendly & explained everything well & Oliver in the restaurant really looked after us well the food was lovely. We also booked afternoon tea in the library & the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were warm comfortable & quiet & the hotel is spotlessly clean. It was a really busy weekend with Christmas Party’s & a Wedding this just added to the amazing atmosphere. Thank you so much for an amazing experience we cant wait to get our next visit booked in

Booked for one night for a visit to the Grand Theatre, Leeds. Beware - on arrival at reception was charged £100 to the card as a 'security deposit'. I have stayed in far nicer hotels than this one & never had that happen. Also it wasn't refunded until this morning. We had booked for three people - two adults & a child, but they obviously hadn't read the booking as we were given a basic room with two single beds. Housekeeping did bring up a portable bed & moved the furniture around, but it made the space really tight. Room was basic, but did have a fridge which was good for the milk we bought as they never give you many sachets & no hot chocolate. What wasn't nice was the mould around the glass shower screen & the window. Some of the flower beds around the hotel needed attention - overgrown & full of weeds. We were also pleased that we ate out that night on the basis of the breakfast the next day. It was all self service, the usual toast, cereal, breakfast pastries, fruit selection wasn't great & yoghurt was in a communal bowl. Fried was the usual bacon, beans, tomatoes, sausages, dried out mushrooms, fried eggs which had run out, not of the best quality. On checking out, they took the room passes & ' That's all done. Have a nice day' & walked away. No asking if everything was all right. Well, it wasn't, so this is my review. See shower screen below.

Stayed 3 nights attending a wedding. Lovely venue and grounds. Had an issue with noise from a service yard during the first night but our rooms were changed, these were lovely.

Me and my friend had afternoon tea here and it's beyond lovely.I am huge fan of afternoon tea and my go to was always Rudding park but Oulton hall for me is a better experience, I find the staff more friendly and more attentive.Oulton hall itself is a stunning building and is complete luxury.I would recommend highly to come here!

Families beware: this hotel (and the chain of QHotels) promote themselves as "family friendly". However, we'd love to understand how banning children from use of the pool for the majority of the day meets this description? We booked a golf game with friends, with the plan being for the Kids to spend time at the pool during the afternoon. But alas, upon arriving at the pool just after lunch were told no kids allowed in the pool except between the times of 8am-10am and 4pm-6:30pm.Staff at the hotel told us this is company policy across the whole group of hotels. Imagine, if this same policy was in place for men, or women or over 65's?We were told this policy is communicated on the website, which we eventually found, but it far from states children are not allowed, but rather described as "Children's swim times". Does this mean the hotel also has "Adult swim times" or "women's swim times"? We were further told that the hotel reserved the non-children swim times for use by guests using the Spa, so that Champagne can be enjoyed by the pool. It's a shame. The hotel is a fantastic building, with the potential to be a wonderful hotel. Unfortunately, service was below standard (for example, 45 minutes wait in the lounge for an order of sandwiches at lunchtime), check-in and check-out were an "experience" with under trained staff, and the quality of food was okay, but not quite what you would hope or expect from such a property.Alas, we won't be back to any more QHotels, until they change their discriminatory policy.

Stayed in a suite during February 2024 with two adults and two kids (7 & 9). Room was large with reasonable bathroom although no bath. Suites were peaceful and felt exclusive compared to other corridor rooms. Pool was OK although very little space around for relaxing. Champagne bar and drawing room was lovely for drinks. Restaurant service was initially very good, although once mains were served it was difficult to get their attention - larger tables distracted them. Breakfast was decent although nothing special. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again, but wouldn’t recommend for a Spa break due to the pool area.

Andrew Armstrong — Google review

Lack of verbal direction from reception also information and direction to facilities and rooms. The Hotel was quite cold unfortunately.Spa facilities very good eventhough you had to ask for a large dressing gown if required. The treatment was given in a very professional manner.
